arnold film done by david ayer. ayer is typically a good writer, but here he’s over the top. there’s more chest thumping testosterone here than even your typical action flick. it harkens back to the commando days. really nothing special, but not bad for those of us who were raised on this kind of stuff. interesting that arnold seems to be taking more ambiguous roles with this and escape plan. he’s not the do gooder military-type or everyman caught up in an evil game – he’s morally ambiguous and working on the edge of the law. maybe being the governor changed him.
