Reviewseries of TED talks with the basic theme being living a happier, longer life. most of them had some interesting ideas, but i think they oversell the “science” of it all. most of the talks, for example, were about doing a few simple things each day to make yourself live x number of years longer. “put your arms up in a victory formation, hold them there for 10 seconds and now you’ll reduce stress by 22% and live 7 minutes longer.” that sort of thing. i doubt the veracity of the science, to be honest. i’m sure there is some truth to many of the findings, but i don’t think it’s as simple as they tend to present it.
some of the talks were funny, some had some touching stories to tell. one brought up the fact that leaders aren’t as important as the first people to follow them. a crazy person yelling into the ether about jews being the problem with society is just crazy. the first people to follow that person make him a leader. taps into that idea that we give people power by paying attention to them. snookie isn’t the problem so much as the idiots who watch her.
