as the series progresses i think they have a little less to say. there are occasional social/political comments, but not as much as i would like. hank hill is a great character to bounce all that is happening in the world off of.  they also apparently took a more serialized approach to the later seasons instead of having longer story arcs. i didn’t really notice this much the last couple seasons, though, as i don’t think the story arcs earlier in the series were as pronounced as they are in cable dramas, for example.
