Reviewsprawling but good documentary on the evolution of the two notorious LA gangs. it gets into the black experience more broadly of the 60s-70s so it loses focus. i guess you could argue, though, that all of that context is integral to the evolution of the gangs. ends on a higher note by highlighting some of the guys who have gone good. they basically all agree that it comes down to personal decisions, but only after spending most of the film talking about all the societal factors that led them into the life in the first place.
