it’s interesting to see how different characters use family. sometimes they use it almost as a bludgeon. after hank finds out about walt, for example, walt uses the family as reason for hank to not move forward with any investigation. family is initially the reason for walt doing all this, but eventually it just becomes something he uses to justify his actions or to manipulate situations.
