came out the same year as the keaton batman. directed by sam raimi who shows off some of his evil dead tricks and shots, unlike his direction in spider-man. this is a better film than most of the comic book movies we’ve gotten in the last 20 years because of raimi’s direction. it’s well-stylized, sometimes funny and sometimes dark. it really captures the comic feel in many ways. frances mcdormand isn’t quite right as the female lead, but other than that i don’t have any complaints. saw this when it came out in 1990 and then again today.
