addiction incorporated primarily a talking heads documentary that covers the downfall of the tobacco industry. in my college years i did a fair amount of research on the anti-tobacco lobby and the tobacco settlement around which the movie revolves, i’ve also seen the insider a few times, so it’s a not unfamiliar topic to me. despite, not because of, that i found the documentary to be engaging and informative. it not only illuminates the tobacco industry and their fight for survival, but also the special interest and political system we have. by now all this stuff is fairly old hat for a cynic like me, but it served as a good reminder that sometimes the truth actually makes a difference. a rare feel good story in the world of politics.
