really dense and very german film. it’s serious and reflective and reminscent of some bergman stuff both in look and content. there’s a lot there to think about which means it would probably hold up fairly well to multiple viewings. it’s a bit on the slow side for me, but not as bad as you might think considering how much actually happens (not much). it made it to a couple different top ten lists from members of the family so that’s why i finally got around to watching it.
