groundbreaking and influential this film also has a nice little story and a couple real good songs. artistically and technically it’s a great achievement for 1937. frankly, looking at animated films today i don’t see 70+ years of evolution. pixar features use a different method and have gotten better since toy story, but i still prefer the cel-animated stuff to today’s computer-animated features. it also was one of the early animated works to use rotoscoping which was later used in everything from films like fire & ice and waking life to the music video for shadrach by the beastie boys.
