not awful, but not good. it’s independence day and war of the worlds on the ground level following only one platoon of marines who are fighting the aliens on the front line. there’s nothing here that you haven’t seen already and it’s mostly fairly cliché. there wasn’t a martyr in the end, though, which was an expectation of mine. eckhart has done much better in his career and takes a step back with this one.
