better than the remake, but not an amazing film by my admittedly modern standards. chaney was good and the effects were a laugh. i mean even by the standards of the time you’d think they could have done a better job with the makeup. anyway, this one was like 30 minutes shorter than the remake and that’s about what the story deserves. the remake was bloated and i don’t remember what it did with its 100 minutes.
