Reviewdaft punk did the music which makes sense because it was really good and there’s that scene in the club where they’re looking at each other while playing music. unfortunately, the music was really good, but not great. it was so close to being great, but i felt like it never was allowed to explode or crescendo like it wanted. it was actually fairly frustrating to be watching a chase scene or a battle and have the music be so good and to feel like it was going to crescendo, but then it never did.
there were also a few slow points in the film that i think, with repeated viewings, would get even slower. outside of these moments and the frustration of the music never being allowed to blossom, the film was good. the symbolism of the father’s disc going with the son to the real world was a nice one. ultimately it’s a coming of age story of sorts. a worthy sequel to a sci-fi classic.
