starts off with an odd feel, but gets rolling about 30 minutes into it. jean arthur is one of my favorites and she carries the film most of the way here. marlene dietrich is also good at what she does. wilder as a german expatriate clearly has a vested interest in the subject matter so it’s interesting from that point of view as well.
