to my recollection pacino and deniro have been in three films together – godfather pt. II, heat, and righteous kill. they weren’t ever in a scene together until 1995 with heat and that’s an “a” level film as is the godfather pt. II. righteous kill represents a steep drop from those two films, but it’s to be expected as avnet hasn’t even sniffed a quality film so far as i can tell. his last two have been pacino vehicles that just didn’t work. this one wasn’t awful, but it’s really not good either. the ending seems contrived, the characters don’t have much life, the direction is uniformly bad, and it just never gets off the ground in any substantive way. with a different director this would have been a b+ film, with avnet, even with the other talent involved it only gets a .
