basically an after school special with a bigger budget. ringwald is a teenager with a smart boyfriend, but their plans of going to college and eventual marriage are thrown off track when she gets pregnant in spite of being on the pill. it’s directed by avildsen and the score is done by conti, but it doesn’t have the same flair that their previous collaborations (rocky, karate kid) had. in the final analysis it’s actually not a bad film despite the corny subject, but i wouldn’t call it good either. the performances lift it out of the anti-sex propaganda category that it could have fallen in.
