Reviewcame out a few months before rear window so i guess rear window the movie could have taken some cues from this one. stanwyck plays a single woman who witnesses what she believes to be a murder in an apartment across the street. the murderer also happens to be an ex-nazi (played by george stevens). the twist of this one is that stevens, rather than simply killing stanwyck to shut her up, convinces the police that she is insane which lands her in an asylum and all but clears his name. of course the bad guy doesn’t get away with it in the end, but the ending did fall a little flat for me. good other than that.
