Reviewone of the better fox film noir i’ve seen from the fox film noir series (these don’t include the dassin films released through criterion). this one stars richard conte and edward g. robinson and is as much about family as anything else. it actually felt like a prelude to the godfather in that it’s about an italian immigrant family that goes into banking and then faces legal troubles as a result of some poor business practices on the part of the patriarch – robinson. the ending wasn’t as good as it could have been, but the film is solid overall and it goes places the average noir doesn’t.
