another academy award winning best picture. this one reminded me a bit of mrs. miniver or all quiet on the western front. it’s an anti-war film told from the perspective of a british family. none of the characters really grabbed me which hampered the film’s ability to resonate with me. gabriel over the white house was the real best picture of the year, this one wasn’t even close.
