subpar coen brothers pic. in fact, other than john malkovich and an occasional laugh from brad pitt or frances mcdormand, the film is unfunny and uninteresting. i’d have to see hudsucker proxy again to be sure, but this is probably in the bottom two or three of all coen brothers films – man who wasn’t there, this and the hudsucker proxy would probably comprise that list for me. yes, ladykillers and intolerable cruelty were both better than this one.
