less than stellar jules dassin noir. it has some great moments, but i wasn’t in love with the characters so it never reached the level of night and the city or thieves’ highway. interestingly, one of the scenes is filmed in the same location as black angel (another universal noir) which i started re-watching last night. liked the themes and the direction, but the characters needed work.
