Zodiac
Year: 2007
Grade: B+
Country: USA
Director: Fincher
Reviewit was a little disappointing to see that fincher decided to making another serial killer film, but when i sat down to watch it none of that really mattered. se7en is a great great film and zodiac doesn’t live up to it, but it works well on its own because fincher is a talented filmmaker. the story is of course fascinating and compelling in large part because of the fact that the killer was never caught.
there were a couple chilling scenes in the film that demonstrated fincher’s growing ability as a filmmaker. they were chilling more because of atmosphere and building tension than a few of the more “easy” scenes in se7en. for example, the basement scene in this film was more chilling than the first crime scene in se7en which was a bit easier to make unsettling because of the bizarre nature of the murder scene. the cast is uniformly excellent and the story was compelling, as stated earlier. this is a solid thriller from a reliable director and cast.
