Reviewi’m told it’s the best astaire/rogers film and it’s the first i’ve seen. it’s also notable for appearing on time’s top 100 list and making it on the new version (though not the original) of the afi top 100 as well. it’s a fine enough film for what it is. i’m not a fan of musicals or extended dancing pieces, but the humor and solid acting from the stars kept this one enjoyable even for me. it’s said that ginger rogers had to do everything that fred astaire did, only backwards and in heels. this is only somewhat true as he has an extended solo (in black face) towards the end of the film.
