not a huge bergman fan. this one is even more prententious and maudlin than the other films of his i’ve seen. it’s about the nature of identity, psychology, and film. as interesting as that sounds, he manages to make it boring, dull, and uninteresting (yes, all three). that said, there is some food for thought here, it’s just buried beneath the heavy-handed acting and pretentiousness.
