Reviewi don’t know how accurate the film is and i suppose it doesn’t matter that much. danny devito over-directs the film at almost every turn and david mamet’s self-conscious writing doesn’t do much for the film. there are a couple films he’s written that have been good, but, overall, i think he’s too highly regarded. unlike mamet as a writer, devito has never directed a good picture; war of the roses is probably my favorite. the story certainly has potential, but devito’s direction really gives a self-importance to the film that raises the bar too high. i guess i should commend the effort and ambition, though.
