like stand and deliver or dangerous minds. it’s about an idealistic teacher who tries to teach her troubled students the value of life and give them some perspective and pride in the process. i enjoyed her methods and seeing the transformation she made from her first day. hilary swank turns in a very good performance and sells herself as a vulnerable, goofy, intelligent and determined person. as is true with all films of this kind, it does get a little corny from time to time, but i think it sells most of the inspirational moments fairly well.
