Reviewa pretty stupid movie on many levels, but the truth is that the soundtrack is great and the film successfully captures a time, mood and point of view. i think it resonates much better with younger people, especially those who are of high school age, at least that’s how it was with me. now i see the film and think of it as nostalgia, rather than sympathizing with the characters and their desire to find their own niche and personality. as much of a square as i can be about drug stuff, i think the drug-use in this film is largely symbolic (anti-establishment) and window dressing, rather than espousing some utopic lifestyle.
