the precursor to the west wing. it features at least three of the cast members from the series and is written by aaron sorkin. the film shows only a bit of the potential that the tv series realized, in part because michael douglas is miscast and in part because reiner’s direction leaves something to be desired. sorkin’s writing isn’t as snappy and is more focused on the love story aspect than the policy as well.
