Reviewmostly unremarkable dassin film that’s about a small town wherein a maid has promised to write an expose. this stirs the pot a bit and some chaos, hilarity and misunderstandings ensue. it’s got some comedic elements and it’s interesting from a social perspective because of its depiction of the bourgeoisie, but doesn’t offer much otherwise. the biggest reason to watch the film is that the great jules dassin directed it. i can’t say i saw the same genius that i saw in night and the city, thieves’ highway and others.
