this came out in 1987 and i saw it in the theater; that would make me about 8 at the time. watching it past the age of, say, 16 is a completely different experience. when i first saw it, the camp and commentary went completely over my head while the gruesome action did not. now, the film is much more interesting as a form of commentary about the potential future of our society and the role of corporations. it was good to see the sizable crowd gathered for this double feature, since this is the kind of film that could easily be relegated to “stupid action film” status.
