Reviewthe film that earned bette davis wide recognition and a write-in vote for an academy award. the film’s other strong point is the wrenching storyline. leslie howard is suitably sympathetic, though the club footedness makes this a bit to easy, and much of davis’s evil character is well-contrasted against howard’s good samaritan role. worth watching.
