this, music man, willie wonka and the chocolate factory, my fair lady, and wizard of oz are pretty much the only non-animated musicals i enjoy. this one has a rare vitality and imagination and has withstood the test of time. i can’t say that i enjoy it as much today as i did 20 years ago, but it’s still a fine film.
