decent enough noir-ish comedy. oliver platt turns in a good performance as a drunk friend of john cusak’s. cusak plays another character who is in the rain at least one time in the film. what’s up with that? connie nielsen is fairly good looking and turns in a good throwback performance. william robert (billy bob) does his bitter, misanthrope thing and it works pretty well. would have liked the visuals to be more exaggerated and bluish to accentuate the feelings of cold.
