Reviewfantastic film whose plot is shocking and surprising, but being aware of how it turns out doesn’t detract from the film’s enjoyment. there’s plenty of material to chew on here: issues of race, class and family are at the forefront. to my knowledge, this is the first, and best, dogme film that’s been made. it uses the minimalist form to draw you into the birthday celebration that is taking place and really takes advantage of the audience’s immersion in the film. i don’t want to say too much about the film, but it’s a must-see.
