not the best that carpenter has to offer. i still think that “the thing” is his best work, but that’s based upon hawks’ “the thing from outer space.” fog has been remade and is slated for release later this year. i’m not entirely sure why you’d remake this film. it’s a so-so horror flick overall. really it’s more of a cautionary tale than it is a horror film. the story revolves around a small coastal town whose history is built on the murder of a leper colony; the fog is their comeuppance.
