Sherman’s March
Year: 1986
Grade: B
Country: USA
Director: McElwee
Reviewdocumentary that was supposed to retrace sherman’s march to the sea during the civil war. instead it’s more about the filmmaker’s love life, or lack thereof. for the viewer it’s interesting to see the unique characters mcelwee runs into as various friends/family members try hooking him up with this or that girl. as a secondary benefit the film provides a pretty nice view of southern culture. many of the people we encounter are still very upset about what sherman did during the civil war, and the civil war in general. it’s a good film, but i’ve sorta forgotten why. i should write my reviews the same day that i watch the movie.
