through most of this picture i was only half on board, but the ending really did it for me. great noirs always have these supremely deflating endings, and this film is no exception. i would have more to say, but i’m writing this five days after seeing it so i don’t remember what i wanted to address. nicholas ray isn’t that great a director, but he’s directed some good films.
