Reviewfrom ermanno olmi (tree of wooden clogs) comes a different sort of film, or at least a different sort of film subject. tree of wooden clogs was about sharecropping farmers working the land, this film is about a young man trying to get a job in the city. both have a meditative pace and style about them, but study very different subjects. il posto becomes more about the one man and his relationship with a girl who is also trying to get a job at a business in the city. i honestly think i have to watch this film again because it sort of went over my head. there were some non-sequitors which caught me off guard and i dozed off once or twice. i can say, though, that i like olmi’s cinematic sense. he has a naturalistic style that generally flows pretty well.
