japanese new wave film that had a certain degree of potential, but just didn’t seem to do much with it. it’s about three candy companies that are scheming up new marketing ideas in order to increase sales. ultimately it’s more about japanese society being too driven by corporations and careers. unfortunately the ending seemed to belie this point. also, i felt it could have been more visually stimulating. there’s one effect of double exposing a lighter over shots of factory work that was used, but other than that the film wasn’t very visually exciting. it felt to me that the director was holding something back. C.
