Review

i don’t really know what i expected, but i know it wasn’t this. it’s another film about a guy dealing with a death in a rather odd/unhealthy way. in this sense it reminded me a lot of “love liza,” without a lot of the heaviness. probably because of the nature of the protagonist (he’s very childlike) i wasn’t ever overly concerned about where things were going; i never felt that things were getting too heavy. that said, the topic is heavy – it’s just that the protagonist is more pathetic than he is imposing or threatening so you’re more likely to feel pity than fear or depression. the film was shot in dv which was probably an economic decision rather than an aesthetic one. it’s a pretty spare plot, but it kept me interested because of the small changes to the eponymous relationship. a good little film.
