Reviewa cross between brazil, 2001 and 40s american cinema. sadly it’s not as good as any of those. sure, it’s ambitious, visually interesting, and unique, but that doesn’t make for a good film. now i’m not going to sit here and claim i understood half of what the film was about, on the contrary – i was at least partially lost for the entire film. as i said, there were some interesting elements to the film and i wasn’t completely uninterested by the picture. furthermore, i know that this is a good film, worthy of some study and someone else’s interest, but not mine. ultimately, more than anything, i think it comes down to a couple things: i’m not a fan of godard or the french aesthetic. sorry.
