someone please tell me what i’m supposed to get out of this movie. if i knew a lot about russian history and culture i might be able to appreciate this more. as for the novelty of “longest single shot in film history” (the whole movie is one uncut shot about 90 minutes long)…well it’s just that, a novelty. it contributes a little bit to the feel, and the camera is active enough so that it’s not boring or anything, but it doesn’t seem entirely necessary either. it was a nice idea, but it fails because it lacks a point. the journey may be the point, but it wasn’t enough for me.
