the commentary is pretty good. it talks a lot about the method they used to make the film. i noticed when i first watched it that there weren’t very many shots that really stood out as being arty or profound. at first i thought this showed a lack of technical mastery, but the commentary track made me realize that this transparency is an integral part of the film. the film making process was not supposed to be part of the film watching experience. i posit that to be more realistic you must first be less cinematic.
