it’s a classic, but it was only the third best movie of the year (graduate and cool hand luke are one and two respectively). sidney poitier is good, but rod steiger may have been even better. his character is more complex, plays just as big a role and is less likable, yet the performance is undeniably good – check out all his little ticks and clicks that he adds…good stuff.
