it’s a movie about frida and diego. there’s nothing fantastic here…although there certainly were some interesting and original visuals (one courtesy of the brothers quay). both the leads did a good job. ultimately, though, i don’t feel like i’ve gotten to know frida very well. i know very little about her art, know a lot about her husband and know a good deal about her physical ailments. there wasn’t the personal connection i hoped for, but you can’t win em all.
