Reviewbetter this time than the first two times i saw it (and fell asleep). wayne’s character is definitely one worth noting – a lot more layered and difficult to figure than the typical movie character, especially for this time and genre. granted the plot wasn’t intended to be the focus of the film, but i felt that the story did drag a bit in the second half of the film. beautifully filmed, well-acted by wayne, and full of allegorical meaning i’m sure. by fifties standards it should receive an A, but for me, in the new millennium, it garners only a .
