this one didn’t take itself seriously for even a second, but i think that’s why it’s so great. bruce campbell gives a fantastic over the top performance and the direction/camera work is deceivingly good. given the tone and subject matter it would be easy to write off evil dead 1 and 2, but campbell’s performances and raimi’s undeniably gifted direction make them cult classics.
