Reviewif you haven’t read nietzsche then you are seriously robbing yourself of the potential this movie has. that’s not to say that this film can’t be appreciated without nietzsche, but with nietzsche you’ll understand and have a framework for the philosophy behind this. of course when one of the characters mentions nietzsche he misunderstands him in the worst way possible, just as hitler did, but such is the nature of philosophy… a great film which is sadly known only for the fact that it’s a four reel film and only cuts four times (although it really cuts more like 8 times). great story, acting, and directing. hitchcock’s second most entertaining and third best film.
